AT 14: 03 NIGHTS / 04 DAYS – NAKURU / MARA (ROAD)
0900hrs, Pick-up from Utalii Hotel and depart Nairobi descending into the Great Rift Valley floor to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive for lunch and afternoon game drive. Early afternoon hours at leisure. Late afternoon game drive around the shores of this world famous bird sanctuary, home to lesser and greater flamingo, pelican and fish eagle. Besides the birds, the park is also home to the black rhino, rothschild giraffe, lion, leopard, common and defassa waterbucks and even leopard. Return to your lodge by sundown for Dinner and Overnight.
After an early breakfast, continue through the Great Rift Valley floor via Narok town to the famous Masaai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive at Mara Serena Lodge for lunch. Early afternoon spent at leisure. Late afternoon game drive in the reserve – home to the “Big Fiveâ€...elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, hippo, impala, gazelle and numerous other wildlife including many hundreds of species of birds. Return to your Lodge at sundown for Dinner & Overnight.
This morning, you will be awakened at dawn and after a cup of tea or coffee you’ll set out at sunrise on an early morning game drive. The Mara is magical in the morning: the birds are singing, the morning air smells fresh and cool and the wildlife is just waking up to greet the day. Zebra’s frolic and greet each other, a pair of jackals prance through the grass in search of mice or a rabbit, baboons chatter noisily and curious giraffe watch you as they nibble on their breakfast of acacia leaves. You may even come upon a family feeding together on last night’s kill, or a leopard snoozing in a tree. Return to your Lodge for a sumptuous buffet breakfast. Late morning at leisure. Lunch is served. Early afternoon at leisure. Late afternoon game drive. Return to your Lodge at sundown for Dinner and overnight.
